Old and new media
Jeff Guess is an American artist who lives and works in Paris since 1988. His studies in photography and film history initially allowed him to situate his work in the interval between still and moving images. Over the last ten years or so, this “in-between” space has been problematized by the introduction of a third term, the algorithmic, which opens his research more explicitly to the question of language. His photographs, programmes, installations and performances have been presented at the Centre Pompidou, the Maison Rouge, the American Center, the ZKM – Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (Karlsrühe), the Filmmuseum (Amsterdam), the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro), the Moderna Museet (Stockholm) and the Museet For Fotokunst (Odense).
